MICHELLE GERSON SETS YOUR COFFEE TABLE
MICHELLE GERSON, THE FORCE AND TALENT BEHIND MICHELLE GERSON INTERIORS, IS ONE OF THE MOST SPECTACULAR INTERIOR DESIGNERS WE HAVE COME ACROSS. SHE HAS FEATHERED THE NESTS OF SUCH LUMINARIES AS JENNIFER FISHER, DAVID WRIGHT, RYAN CALLAHAN AND GABRIEL BYRNE, AND HER STYLE IS AT ONCE BADASS AND ELEGANT — AN ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE COMBINATION THAT SHE PULLS OFF EFFORTLESSLY. IT SEEMED ONLY NATURAL THAT WE TURN TO HER TO SHARE HER NEST SELECTS WITH US, AND THIS IS THE FIRST OF WHAT WE HOPE WILL BE A SERIES OF ENTRIES.
AS MICHELLE SAYS, A COFFEE TABLE WITH GOOD ACCESSORIES CAN MAKE AN OTHERWISE DULL ROOM COME ALIVE. HERE IS HER LIST OF FAVORITE COFFEE TABLE ACCESSORIES.
1. CANDLESTICKS
A great set or even unmatched groupings of candlesticks set a great mood. I love Kelley Wearstlers Melange Marble Candlesticks. Black and white accessories make any room look fresh, and go with any color palette.
2. APPARATUS STUDIOS NEO VESSELS
These bowls, in either black or white marble with brass, look great filled or empty. I love a good vessel and you can always change things up by changing what you put inside — I love to fill mine with clementines.
3. ALEXANDRA VON FURSTENBERG (AVF) HOME CHARM BOWLS
These bowls come in assorted patterns and sizes and look great empty or filled with your favorite candies.
4. COASTERS
These Toast It Coasters from the MoMa store add a little humor to your coffee table, which I love. Yes, they look like pieces of toast which is a little random, but they are great conversation starters and they are good for a laugh.
Even if you don't like their scents, Fornasetti makes the coolest containers and are great collectibles. Each candle is like its own work of art.
6. COFFEE TABLE BOOKS
A great stack of coffee table books is always a great addition. Choose books that match your interests or ones that you are drawn to. Some of my personal favorites are Vanity Fair 100 Years: From the Jazz Age to Our Age, Tom Ford, Emilio Pucci (available with a variety of covers) and any book by Herb Ritts (L.A. Style is my favorite).
7. COFFEE TABLE GAMES
Anything interactive works well on a coffee table and this acrylic backgammon set from Maison 24 is both a conversation piece and fun to play.
